Untitled - An Ode to Deborah

Deborah Jean Young

I'm glad to have a mother with the qualities You possess.
Sometimes I wonder, if I live up to being the great child You always wanted.
But, according to You, I guess I've passed the test.

Your love for me is unparalleled,
Something like the Lord, JC
I'm glad to have You as a mother, Deborah Jean.

Deborah, when You conceived me
On the 18th of December
The second Sunday of May,
Would be a day that You will forever be remembered.

As I think about everything we've been through as son and mother
No one or nothing could separate us from each other
We're been inseparable since my birth
And our love is like gravy and chicken ... Smothered :-)

I hope You enjoy today, and everything that it has in store.
I couldn't put it all in this poem, but You know I have so much more.
I love You more than You know, all they way to the core
You're the BEST mother a son could have, De-BOR ..... AH

My Ma
This free-verse, didn't take magic
Abra-kadaBRA
But, Your son learned a new trick
And the trick was to love You beyond Ah
Reasonable doubt, so here goes NADA

TA-DA!!!!

Yours truly, with the love that could overpower Christians faith of Jesus Christ

Living Life to the Fullest - Dedicated 2 DB, Jr.

DB, what's good boy
Just thinkin' of all the joy
You put in my life
And my guy's
RB, Black Tye's and mine
I enjoyed every minute, every hour
All the time

All the sessions we had, heatin' them teeth
Even not singin' "Kumbayah," when the situation was lookin' a little meek
When it came to hoopin', we all know you was quick, and ya moves was swift
But bringin' smiles 2 people's faces was your TRUE GIFT

As I celebrate ya birthday, I'm lookin' towards the sky
'Cause I know you by my side
I still ask God to this day,
"Why did You have to take my guy?"
I write this with a tear in my eye
But, I guess He whispered in ya ear and said,
"Darren, it's your time."

With all mah heart, I'ma miss you 'jo,
"I'ma be in this jailhouse of words, cookin' up a 4.0
With every breath in my body, I'm doing this 4 you
This free-verse right here, is dedicated to mah boi "Boo"

Give my grandmother, Bertha my best
And I'll leave with a quote, you spoke from a text
That will forever separate you from the rest:

"If today is my last day ... best believe, I lived it to the fullest. No second is taking for granted."

 - Darren Antonio "Boo" Brown, Jr.

DB, I luv U with all my heart. U my brutha 4 life and nothin' will eva change that #st8up. I got tears in mah eyes writing this, but it eases the pain. I'll see U soon G. Tell mah manz JC to save me a spot =) #OUT

Thoughts of a Charismatic Young Man

Motivation
Haters talkin' reckless
Fear of never measurin' up
To expectations
Popz always tellin' me to be greater
Than that Caucasian
Now that's my motivation

But my motivation and my determination
Ain't part of an Immaculate Conception
But I was born with the heart of a rebel
Blood of a gladiator
Popz is a champion
Momz, a semi-Black Panther
Determined to be "All I Can Be," No Army involved
I'm just a piece of a puzzle tryna be solved

Ghandi wanted equality, King preached the same
Obama warrants change
But I want to create the change
Hopefully the World don't remain the same
Doing it for a positive gain
Maybe I'll remain "sane"
Playing on this "non-level" playing field called ...
